Let's find out about vaccinations for puppies.

Welcome to Kim's Pups, Korea's premier breeder of teacup puppies!

We understand that bringing home a new puppy can be both exciting and overwhelming.

And, one of the most important aspects of puppy care is vaccinations.

Vaccinations for puppies are extremely important.

Korea's Comprehensive Vaccination Schedule

Korea has a rigorous vaccination schedule for puppies to ensure their optimal health.

Here's a breakdown of the typical vaccination timeline:

  • 1st Vaccination (DHPPL, Canine Coronavirus): 6 weeks
  • 2nd Vaccination (DHPPL, Canine Coronavirus): 8 weeks
  • 3rd Vaccination (DHPPL, Kennel Cough): 10 weeks
  • 4th Vaccination (DHPPL, Kennel Cough): 12 weeks
  • 5th Vaccination (DHPPL, Canine Influenza): 14 weeks
  • 6th Vaccination (DHPPL Antibody Test, Canine Influenza, Rabies): 16 weeks
  • 7th Vaccination (Canine Influenza Antibody Test): 18 weeks
  • Booster Shots: Annually
  • Other: External parasite prevention (monthly), internal parasite prevention (quarterly), heartworm prevention (monthly)

While this might seem like a lot of vaccinations, it's essential to protect your puppy from a variety of diseases.

Please understand that the vaccination schedule for dogs can vary depending on their health condition.

Side note : What does DHPPL mean?

DHPPL is a combination vaccine that protects against five common canine diseases: distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and leptospirosis.

Vaccination Practices in Other Countries

While Korea has a comprehensive vaccination schedule, practices can vary from country to country. For example, in the United States, the typical vaccination schedule might look something like this:

  • 1st Vaccination (Distemper, Parvovirus): 6-8 weeks
  • 2nd Vaccination (DHPP): 10-12 weeks
  • 3rd Vaccination (DHPP, Rabies): 16-18 weeks
  • 4th Vaccination (DHPP, Rabies): 12-16 months
  • Booster Shots: DHPP every 1-2 years, rabies every 1-3 years

Other vaccines like bordetella, influenza, leptospirosis, coronavirus, and Lyme disease might be recommended based on the region and individual pet's needs.

Key similarities across countries:

  • DHPP (or a similar combination vaccine) and rabies are commonly administered.
  • Additional vaccines often vary depending on the region and specific health risks.

At Kim's Pups, we prioritize the health and well-being of our puppies.

All our puppies undergo a rigorous vaccination schedule and regular veterinary check-ups. Before they go to their new homes, they receive a comprehensive health examination.

If you have any further questions about our puppies or their care, please don't hesitate to contact us.
