The Pomeranian continues to be a favorite around the world, but why?

Hello, we are Kim's Pups and we have been breeding Pomeranians for over 10 years.

Also, we have been traveling to dog shows around the world and offering pomeranians for sale!

Our most recent dog show was Asia's largest dog show in Manila, Philippines in January 2024.

 

 

At Kim's Pups, we are often greeted by puppies who have become part of happy families.

Today, we had a lot of happy faces at Kim's Pups, especially the owner of a full-grown Pomeranian.

As they walked by the front of the store, they couldn't take your eyes off the baby Pomeranian running around in the playground.

It seems that people who fall in love with Pomeranians can't seem to get enough of them.

At Kim's Pups, we're experiencing a steady demand and love for Pomeranians, so let's take a look at what makes them so appealing, and what some of their advantages and disadvantages are.

 

When we talk about Pomeranians, we can't help but start with their appearance, and I think most people who love Pomeranians prefer their cute appearance.

The Pomeranian's appearance is described as follows:

1. They have a soft, rich, double-coated coat:
   I think the reason why people like Pomeranians is because of their unique double-coat fur.
   The soft, cotton candy-like double coat is always pretty to look at and feels great to the touch.
   The double coat has many health benefits as well as looks.
   It keeps them warm, waterproof, and protects your skin by repelling dirt.
   
   
2. They have a clean, lean face, and floppy ears:
   Guests often describe Pomeranians' faces as innocent or angelic.
   These faces, along with their erect ears, show a variety of expressions.
   Whether it's a curious gaze, a mischievous smile, or an affectionate glance, they can create a variety of expressions that captivate their owners.
   It's safe to say that many people who have purchased a Pomeranian from Kim's Pups have been mesmerized by these expressions.

Despite all of these attractive features and personality traits, when it comes to health and care, Pomeranians are a healthy and manageable breed.

Some of the health and care aspects of the Pomeranian are:

1. Their coat is short and soft, making them easy to manage:
   Pomeranian's coat is short and soft, so it only needs to be brushed once or twice a week and bathed once every two to three months.
   As listed above, they have a double-coat, and our team will be happy to advise you on how to care for it.
   
   
2. Low shedding, which is great if you suffer from allergies:
   Pomeranians are known to be a low-shedding breed, which is great for those with allergies.
   They also secrete less allergen, which is an protein, than other breeds.
   If you keep up with your Pomeranian's grooming, you can reduce the amount of allergens on their coat.
   
   
3. They are active and tend to get some exercise:
   Not getting much exercise may sound like a negative, but on the flip side, an active lifestyle helps reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases like obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
   Because we only take in Pomeranians from our own breeding or from contracted kennels, we monitor their health from birth and test them for genetic disorders through regular veterinary exams.

 

 

So what are the downsides to Pomeranians?

We asked the team at Kim's Pups, and while they didn't come up with any major downsides, these are the expected ones.

1. You'll need to do some coat and skin care:
   We mentioned above that the coat is easy to manage, but you'll need to keep an eye on it.
   The coat is thick, so you'll need to be careful not to tangle it.
   Also, due to the nature of the double coat, which repels dirt, water, etc. from the outside world, the skin can get dry, so it's a good idea to brush it every once in a while and check on it.
   
   
2. Take care of their teeth:
   While this is not always the case, Pomeranians are known to have weaker teeth than other breeds.
   |Regular tooth brushing and dental treats can help your Pomeranian's dental health.
