Get to know Maltipoo, Kim's most popular furry friend.

Hello! This is Kim's Pups.

We know it's been hot and sticky out lately, but we're thankful that customers are still coming to Kim's Pups.

Our team has been busy today, and one story stood out to us. One thing that stood out to us was how popular Maltipoo still is.

More than half of the Maltipoo resting in our stores are ready to go overseas, and we've even had friends scheduled to go to South Korea. In other words, it's no secret that Maltipoo is the most popular dog at Kim's Pups.

For that reason, we'd like to share with you the story of why Maltipoo is so popular.

First, a little history: the Maltipoo is literally a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle. Both Maltese and Poodles are traditional breeds with a long history and were beloved by aristocrats.

It's a well-known fact that Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette had a great love for poodles, and Queen Victoria had a great love for Maltese.

The Maltipoo, a cross between these two breeds, is practically perfect, combining the lovable looks of a Poodle with the intelligence and vigor of a Maltese.

That's just a quick history lesson, but can you already see why they're so popular?

But first, what are the benefits of the Maltipoo? When we talk about the Maltipoo, we can't help but talk about its appearance.

Here are a few things to say about Maltipoo's appearance:

  1. They have an adorable appearance:
With their immaculate fur, dark eyes, and plush appearance, Maltipoos have a charm that makes anyone fall in love with them.
They also come in a variety of coat colors, including white, cream, black, and gold.
It's a combination of the cuteness of a maltese and the loveliness of a poodle that appeals to people of all ages. That's why many customers who visit Kim's Pups can't take their eyes off them.

  2. The coat is soft and silky:
The soft, curly coat is so inviting that you just want to stroke it.
Think of the softness of a Maltese's coat mixed with the curl of a poodle's coat, and you've got a charming, fine coat.

  3. The eyes are round and pretty:
Round, large black or brown eyes are attractive.
Maltipoo's eyes in particular are often complimented on. Customers at Kim's Pups often say that they have eyes that you can't help but fall in love with.

But it's not just their looks that make them a great breed, it's also their personality.

Here are some of the personality traits of the Maltipoo:

  1. They are intelligent and easy to train:
Maltipoos inherited their great intelligence from their Poodles, and Maltese are also highly intelligent.
They learn and adapt quickly to commands and training, and respond positively to praise and treats.
This temperament is evident in our own training and education at Kim's Pups.

  2. They have an active and playful personality:
The Maltipoo inherited its playful and joyful nature from the Maltese, which is also shared by the Poodle.=
As such, they love to play, walk, and run around with their owners.
At Kim's Pups, we often let our puppies run around in the in-store playground to reduce their stress, and Maltipoo's energetic play is definitely a sign of a healthy Maltipoo.

  3. They have affectionate and devoted personalities:
Both Maltese and Poodles form attachments with their owners and have loyal personalities.
They are great at showing their love to their owners and are often their owners' best friends.
Owners who have adopted a Maltipoo from Kim's Pups often brag about the close relationship they have with their dogs.

Let's take a look at some of the health and care aspects of Maltipoo.

  1. They are relatively easy to care for:
Although their coat is long, with consistent brushing and regular grooming, they don't require much maintenance.
They're also not very large, so it's easy to take them outdoors, or for women or children to carry them around.

  2. Low odor:
They have less odor compared to other dog breeds.
People who come to Kim's Pups and are around Maltipoo, especially those who already have a dog, often comment on how they don't smell.
This is an advantage that is also shared by those who have adopted Maltipoo from us.

  3. They shed less and don't shed as much:
While shedding can be a challenge, fortunately, Maltipoo sheds less hair and sheds less often.
As mentioned above, their coat is manageable with consistent brushing and regular grooming.
Additionally, know that good nutrition and stress management will minimize shedding!

Now, let's take a look at what you might consider to be the downsides of the Maltipoo.

  1. They are active and playful:
This is something we listed above as an advantage, but it can also be seen as a disadvantage.
They need to be given plenty of exercise and playtime to some extent, so they don't develop behavioral issues like stress and anxiety.

  2. They are more prone to barking than other breeds:
Maltese tend to be more alert and bark than other breeds. To some extent, they may have inherited this tendency from the Maltese.
However, please recognize that this aspect of their personality is most influenced by how they are raised by their owners, and we will do our best to ensure that they are raised correctly at Kim's Pups.
We provide the best possible training and care at Kim's Pups. Even after you've found a new family, we're available 24 hours a day to discuss training.

Finally, let's take a look at what some of our owners have to say about their experience with Maltipoo.

They've told us that they're generally easy to care for and don't require a lot of attention, which is a testament to the fact that they're born to healthy parents, don't show signs of genetic disease, and are well cared for by their owners.

One thing to note is that while Maltipoo is generally gentle and energetic, some of our dogs have a tendency to guard the house, so it's important to train them to be less hyper-vigilant.

It's important to use proper discipline, such as giving them a gentle nudge when they bark, to let them know that it's not necessary.

If you experience any of these episodes, please feel free to contact us at Kim's Pups 24 hours a day and we will be happy to advise you on what to do.
